WRITERS' CLEAN-UP DAY AT THE WREN'S NEST

If you are of the literary mindset (or wish you were) and you've been looking for free beer and food enjoyed in the great outdoors this spring, given to you because you're willing to do a little clean-up work at an Atlanta literary institution, well, we're here to give you some good news.

The Duck and Herring Co. is hosting an event with The Wren's Nest, former home of Joel Chandler Harris (not to mention Atlanta's oldest house museum, even counting those that have burned to the ground and been rebuilt), on Saturday, April 14 at noon.

What kind of event? A Writers' Service Day. Writers, bloggers, house museum nerds, etc., and anyone else is invited to the Nest for some outdoor clean-up work on 2.24 acres of Br'er Rabbit and Br'er Fox land in the heart of West End. The work will be followed by free libations, edibles, and perhaps kick ball, croquet, music, and maybe a spelling bee.

Why? Well, as LL Cool J might say, "Don't call this a comeback; the Wren's Nest has been here for years"; but it has a new executive director at the helm (Lain Shakespeare, great-great-great grandson of Mr. Harris), and a new mission to revitalize the property and become a location for writing classes, readings, music shows, parties, go-kart races, a petting zoo, and anything else that sounds fun.

Don't you want to be a part of this? Plus, you get FREE BEER AND FOOD for your efforts! On what just might be a sunny spring day! Also, other writers will be there; ain't it about time that writers and other creative types in this sprawl-happy town got together for some fun?

So, you're coming, right? Come on!
